To demonstrate how each of us receives information differently, ask 3-5 individuals (depending on the size of your group) to volunteer to stand in front of the group. Give each person a different colored piece of 8-1/2x11” paper. Ask them to close their eyes (assure them you won't embarrass them!).
Give them the following instructions:
1. Fold your paper in half lengthwise.
2. Fold it in half again.
3. Tear off the upper right corner.
4. Tear off the lower left corner of your paper.
5. Tear off a piece out of the middle of your paper.
Then have everyone open their eyes and unfold their papers. Ask “Which of these papers look alike?” Of course, none of them will! They will look like snowflakes--demonstrating how important clear instructions, communications, listening, processing, etc. are.
This can be utilized in a varity of workshops.
