Trash Your Ego Icebreaker Game

by Sanjay Vaidya

I was conducting a team building course and used this icebreaker game.

I asked the participants to write a big capital "I" on a plain paper. Even decoration was allowed. They had no knowledge what is it for.
I then asked them to tear it to as pieces as possible. I circulated a trash can and asked all to deposit their pieces in the can.

They were asked if could understand the significance on the act. "They had just torn their egos("I"s) and trashed them in the dustbin.

Everyone was quite impressed by the simple way of leaving their egos behind when working as a team.
