I Become You - to Get to Know You

by Satinder Ahuja

Divide the participants into pairs, then give them 10 minutes to get to know each other well (family, academics, experience, likes/dislikes, hobbies, etc.).

Each pair must then introduce themselves to the group by Partner A "becoming" Partner B. (So Mr B will say, "Hello, I am Mr A...") Then the fun begins: the rest of the group asks Partner B questions about Partner A, which he must answer as his partner, with optional penalties for getting things wrong. After all, it looks foolish if I say I have a brother but do not know his name! This can be even more interesting by having pairs of mixed sex, where Mr A has to introduce himself: "I am Mrs B and my husband's name is..."

This can be a fun and humourous way to break the ice, while highlighting the importance of paying attention during communication and improving interview skills.
