Sample Coaching Questions

Here are examples of questions I’ve been asked to answer;

• If I give my boss negative feedback my career is screwed. What can I do?

• I am the only one who cares about standards, everyone else forgets about the details. How can I get these people motivated in their work?

• I’ve been asked to prepare a personal development plan, but don’t know where to start. Help!

• I’m starting work again after a long sick leave and I’m dreading it. How can I make it less scary?

"Your coaching has been a real help, it has helped me to take stock of my career and focus more clearly on where I am, and where I want to be. I now have the confidence to strike out in a new career direction. Thanks!"
Andrew Edwards, BSkyB

Ask Lyndsay More – Telephone Coaching

Sometimes it’s easier to talk, person to person. Call me and we can discuss your situation and come up with a plan to improve your prospects, build your skills and get you through tricky situations without casualties.

Here are examples of more detailed questions I’ve discussed in person;

• I am working 12 –14 hour days and I am thoroughly demotivated at work and have no energy (or time!) for a social life. What can I do as I used to love my job?

• I have been in my job for 6 years and cannot progress unless I stop being a techie and become a manager or start again in a new industry. What should I do?

• I’ve read many books, listened to tapes but still can’t motivate myself to do certain things in my life. How do I stop procrastinating and get on with my life?

• I’m starting a new job in a small company and really want to show them what I can do. I’ve been self employed for 8 years and need reminding how to work in a team again.

Here’s what you need to do now

1) Decide on whether you would prefer coaching by email or phone (many people start with an email coaching question and progress to telephone coaching once they have ‘checked me out’!)

Email coaching terms

• One question is £16 / $30ish (you’ll be able to see the exact amount in dollars on the payment page)
• I promise to spend at least 30 minutes compiling the answer to your question (I can do a lot in that time!) Often, you’ll get some bonus minutes with your first question – I want to make sure you’re pleased with it!
• I’ll acknowledge receipt of your question as soon as I see it and aim to respond fully within 48 hours.
• If I cannot give you a useful, considered answer, I will refund your fee immediately.

Telephone coaching terms
