One of our doctors came up with this game as a way of breaking the ice and getting rid of underlying anxiety and stress in a practice team.
For this game, you need:
- A supply of decent balloons
- String, cut into 2- to 3-foot pieces
- Newspapers or magazines
As the meeting participants enter, they are each given a balloon and a piece of string. Everyone is asked to blow up the balloon, tie it, and attach the string.
When this is done, individuals tie the free end of the string around their ankle so that the balloon is about 2 to 3 feet away.
Then everyone is asked to move around the room and try to burst the balloons, using a rolled-up newspaper or magazine like a club.
This was a real hoot and got rid of so much nervous energy that we then went on to a really good and positive meeting.
