Anything, anything, anything icebreaker game

by Mat Castle

This icebreaker game works in the same way as rock, paper, scissors but can be anything.

Two participants stand facing each other and do the usual three bounces of the fist whilst saying "anything, anything, anything".

They then both say what their anything is at the same time. It is then up to them to debate why their anything would win. I played on game where a piece of bluetack beat buddha!

Fun, quick and easy icebreaker
by: Anonymous

This icebreaker game is deeper than it may appear at first.

Scissor, paper, stone is just a game of chance, whereas this is a debating game, more about presenting an argument and putting your point across.

It could also be a good confidence builder for younger team members, or people new to management, because you are having to think on your feet and assert yourself quickly, possibly with more senior team members. The 'safe' environment of the icebreaker game allows this to happen more easily.

A different slant that you could take on this game would be to consider it a way to enhance creativity. You could agree up front what your criteria are for winning, and award an overall 'winner' to the person that comes up with the wackiest idea for example.

I'd love to know why bluetack beat buddha!
