A Penny for Your Thoughts

by Jean F.

(This is wonderful for small groups)

Set Up: Provide enough shiny pennies for all the participants (one shiny penny per person), and a small magnifying glass to read the dates on each penny.

Have each participant take a penny from the center of the table.

The participant reads the date on the penny (this is where the magnifying glass comes in handy for some).

Activity: Spend a couple of minutes (no more than a couple of minutes) thinking about the date, tell us of some major, or interesting event that happened to you during the year (on the penny) that you would care to talk about.

Rotate around the group until everyone that wants to has shared.

The point: A great ice breaker for getting to know each other a little bit better before launching into heavier material.
